When you start designing you should also think about how to draw cartoon characters from different angles. Often when you start doodling you come up with a cute character, but problems occur when you suddenly need to draw that character from another angle… always drawing as a profile just don’t cut it, you need to draw the character from above and front too!
So a very important thing at the doodling stage is to experiment with drawing your characters from different angles (yes, I know I’m repeating myself, but this is actually important), especially your main characters if they will be re-appearing in your cartoons or comics. It is easier to correct errors at the doodling and planning stage than start fixing things when the characters are already established!
